ingredients

Pasta

• 1 pinch salt

• 2 cups (tea) of sifted flour

• 1 egg yolk

• 1 tablespoon (soup) vegetable shortening

• 3 cups (tea) of soybean oil for frying

• 2 tablespoons (tea) brandy

Filling

• 4 cups (tea) sugar

• 4 cups (tea) grated fresh coconut

• 8 cloves India

Way of doing

In a bowl, place 1 cup (tea) of warm water, vegetable fat, egg yolk, brandy and salt and stir well. Add the flour gradually, mixing after each addition. Knead by hand for 8 minutes or until dough is smooth. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let rest for 15 minutes. In a floured board, the dough about 0.5 cm thick and cut 1 cm strips. Wrap strips of metal straws, overlapping the mass. Leave some of the free edge to facilitate the removal of the mass later. Fry the straws, little by little, in the hot oil. Once browned, remove and place them on paper towels. Let cool and remove from pans. Filling In a saucepan, place the sugar and 2 cups (tea) of water. Bring to the boil, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes or until a consistency similar to that of honey. Then add the coconut, cloves and cook for 8 minutes or until thicken. Remove, let cool and fill the straws.
